This tower is replacing the once unsightly compost pile that was distributed to the raised beds. It’s not full of dirt yet because it is too wet to move very much dirt.
Raised Beds
2023 March
Raised beds made from old barn roofing and 4 x4 posts. It is 1 foot high by 9 foot x 3 foot. I used all the compost pile from 2 years of throwing sod, weeds, basically anything that will compost. It is wonderful to get that old eyesore of a compost pile moved and put to a good use. Now in place of the compost pile we are building a strawberry tower! Will post in the next few days.
The Greenhouse
My amazing and very handy husband built a greenhouse out of cattle fence. It is beautiful, but we have not mastered growing through the winter.
2022 May, Getting Started
- Garlic
2021
Every year I think, “This year will be the best garden year!” Here we are again in February and I am getting some seeds started and ordering some other seeds.
Everything’s coming up Roses
The plan this year is to use fungal spray to keep the roses looking good all summer. First choice of fungal sprays is Neem oil.
Raspberry Patch in April
The raspberry patch is not looking very good but this is a great time to weed and mulch with wood mulch. i always think the more i can get weeded now the easier to keep it weed free into the summer.
Three Inches of Rain Overnight
I usually spend an afternoon getting an area of the garden in beautiful shape then taking a lovely picture to post. Today I’m posting an unflattering photo. This weekend I hope to get all this looking better. I still have compost piles from fall that need tilled in and distributed. We’ll see!
Red Raspberries
I spent several hours weeding and putting straw around these red raspberries. It will really pay off as the summer comes and the weeds will not continue to take over. Probably around July I will need to redo this but without the straw it would be a constant struggle to stay ahead of the weeds. The raspberries are soooo delicious!
